FAQ
Occupational Therapy can be hard to describe as it encompasses a wide range of therapies across all life stages and settings. Simply put, Occupational Therapists assist people in resuming the activities they need to do and want to do after an injury or illness. These activities can be anything from taking care of themselves and others, returning to work, and resuming the fun things like sports and leisure activities.
Occupational Therapy is a regulated medical profession that ensures its members are registered, competent, and in good standing with the provincial college.

Most health insurance policies cover Occupational Therapy services, similar to other health treatments such as Physiotherapy or Massage. Please contact your insurance company to find out about your coverage.
ICBC Enhanced Care covers Occupational Therapy services, however, you may require a doctor’s referral or approval from your Recovery Specialist at ICBC first.
BC Housing is currently offering a rebate for up to $17,500 for eligible expenses that are deemed necessary to improve safety and independence in the home environment. Certain recommendations require a home assessment to be completed by an appropriate professional such as an Occupational Therapist.
